Massachusetts Multicultural Film Festival: Youth Media and Social Movements

The UMass Amherst Interdepartmental Program in Film Studies Presents the 14th Annual Massachusetts Multicultural Film Festival: Encuentros/Encounters: New Cinema of Latin America & Spain

Global Action Project, a youth media organization based in New York City, and the Venezuelan media collective, Calle y Media, present recent work on popular resistance, Hugo Chávez, and social movements, including Notes from Porto Alegre (2006), a young person’s view of the World Social Forum.

Co-sponsored by Communication, English, UMass Amherst. The screening will be followed by a discussion with G.A.P. alumni who are currently Five College students, local youth media artists, and special guests director Marcelo Andrade and a youth representative from Calle y Media.
