We Support War Resisters
Join students to demonstrate support for Army Lt. Ehren Watada, the first commissioned officer to refuse deployment to Iraq. Lt. Watada is facing a long prison term if he is convicted for his "offense": refusing to take part in an illegal and unjust war. Campus veterans and active/reserve duty students are encouraged to attend.
This event will consist of a rally at the Student Union. Members of Military Families Speak Out, Iraq Veterans Against the War, and Vets For Peace will speak. The event will also sponsor an open mic for anyone who wishes to speak to the war and the impact it has on students here at UMass.
