“Research Anyone?”: Undergraduate Conference for Students in Science, Engineering and Math

The Northeast Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (NEAGEP) and the Office of ALANA Affairs are co-hosting a fair for under-represented minority undergraduates in STEM disciplines at UMass Amherst and the Five Colleges. This is the kick-off event for the NEAGEP "Recruiting Our Own" initiative. Until now, we have focused our recruitment efforts on minority-serving institutions, largely neglecting the students at our own institutions. The goal of the event is to tell students about internships, summer research opportunities and graduate programs available to them within the larger NEAGEP. In addition, they will learn about resources available to them here at UMass Amherst. There will be panel discussions to inform students about what they can do with doctoral degrees and how much fun summer research programs can be. This event will be particularly important for ensuring that our UMass Amherst and Five College minority students learn about the joy of research and have an opportunity to get that experience. We truly hope you will participate. The following is a tentative agenda.
