Student Bridges Informational Meeting
Interested in a 3-Credit Internship with the New “Student Bridges” Project? Join us for this Informational Meeting!
As part of this internship, you will:
1. Offer weekly or bi-weekly academic mentoring at Holyoke-area schools and programs
2. Work with the UMass Visitors Center to coordinate campus tours and trips to UMass cultural events for Holyoke and Springfield youth
3. Help research & identify ways to enhance UMass' accessibility and outreach to local communities
You must commit to the project for the Fall and Spring semester, and you will receive 3 internship credits per semester. All interns must participate in a one-day training on 10/1/06, meet for Reflection Meetings every-other Monday at 7:30pm, and join one of the 3 Student Bridges Tutor/Mentor Teams:
Team I: Tutor/Mentor at the Holyoke Community College help centers: Leave the Student Union Tuesdays at 11am; return by 2:30pm
Team II: Tutor/Mentor through the “Adult Basic Education Transition to College Program”: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays - exact timing will be based on your availability
Team III: Tutor/Mentor with the STEP youth afterschool program: Leave the Student Union Mondays & Wednesdays at 2:30pm; return to campus around 6pm.
