Workshop: A Ph.D. Is Not Enough

This year's A Ph.D. Is Not Enough! will be a day-long event. There will be two morning sessions, "Succeeding in Graduate School" and "The Tenure Process", that will each feature a keynote speaker and a panel discussion.

After lunch, Dr. Jorge Cham, the writer of Ph.D. Comics, will offer a humorous look at life in graduate school through his presentation "The Power of Procrastination."

There will be six afternoon workshops: "What UMass Amherst Career Services Has to Offer", "Interviewing and Applying for Tenure Track Positions", "Consulting Jobs", "Effective Teaching", "Grant Writing", and "Networking".

The event has been organized by the Graduate Education and Career Development Initiative (GECDI) at UMass Amherst. GECDI is a graduate-student directed organization designed to address the career development and educational needs of graduate students.
