Niyaz
Niyaz is an acoustic electronic project that brings together five musicians to form an exciting new fusion of traditional Persian music and modern electronics. Vas vocalist Azam Ali, Axion of Choice’s multi-instrumentalist Loga Ramin Torkian, producer/remixer Carmen Rizzo have joined forces to create “world music for the 21st century.” The group performs the Farsi poetry of 13th century Sufi mystic Jalaluddin Rumi and ancient Indian Urdu poetry set to a hypnotic, ecstatic, and eminently danceable beat. Niyaz represents the best of both traditional world music and electronic music.
