2006 Nordin Lectures: Dr. Thomas Steitz of Yale University
The Third Annual Nordin Lectures, honoring UMass Amherst's Dr. John H. Nordin, Professor Emeritus in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, are on May 15 and 16. This year's speaker is Dr. Thomas Steitz, Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry at Yale University, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. Dr. Steitz uses x-ray crystallography and molecular biology to elucidate the structures and mechanisms of the proteins and nucleic acids central to DNA replication, transcription, and translation.
