Panel: The Journalist in Iraq 2006

The UMass Amherst Journalism Program Lecture Series on Broadcast and the Media's final lecture of the year, “The Journalist in Iraq, 2006."

The event focuses on the challenges and dangers facing journalists covering the war in Iraq. Speakers will include Jackie Spinner, writer for The Washington Post and author of Tell Them I Didn’t Cry: A Young Journalist’s Story of Joy, Loss, and Survival in Iraq; and Ann Cooper, former National Public Radio (NPR) correspondent and current Executive Director of the Committee to Protect Journalists. They will speak on the experience of covering Iraq as well as challenges facing today’s journalists abroad. Also featured will be UMass Legal Studies professor David Mednicoff, an expert on terrorism in the Middle East.

A pre-panel reception will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
