Conference: Junior Year Writing and Writing across the Curriculum
The 6th Annual Junior Year Writing and Writing across the Curriculum Conference offers a venue for faculty and instrutors to join in their concern about improving student writing and making the teaching of writing more effective. This year's topics include: developing assignments to facilitate student writing; addressing the growing issue of plagiarism; using simple technology to improve peer response and responding to papers; understanding the multi-lingual writer; and new resources created by the Learning Commons for teachers of writing.
Expert faculty and staff will participate in a series of six sessions. Sessions run from 9:00–10:00 a.m., 10:10–11:10 a.m., and 11:20 a.m.–12:20 p.m., with two concurrent sessions in each time slot. A continental breakfast and registration runs from 8:30–9:00 a.m. in the 8th floor lounge of the Campus Center. Participants are invited to a free luncheon on the 10th floor following the conference (RSVP about lunch by April 1 to beckyb@english.umass.edu). You do not have to register for the conference.
