This presentation and subsequent Q&A will cover my first hand knowledge of the LTC West detainee abuse fiasco, how incidents like Abu Graib can happen, and what impact these events have on operations especially when leaders don't do what they're supposed to do. I will also discuss some personal conflicts and tragedies and how my speaking about my experiences has helped me heal. The latter point fits into psychiatrist Jonathan Shay's philosophy about how our society gets it wrong for Veterans every time there's a war.
