Great Decisions Program: China and India: Partners or Competitors?

Five College Learning in Retirement (5CLIR) announces the second program in the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions 2006 series of programs, sponsored in the Valley by 5CLIR.

The topic is “China and India – Partners or Competitors?” with speaker Professor Pavel Machala of Amherst College. Dr. Machala teaches such courses as “Terrorism and Empire” and “Political Theory of Global Capitalism.” As President Bush’s recent trip to India made clear, the interplay between China, India and the U.S. is complex and shifting, according to the FPA materials.

Four other programs follow on Fridays in April (14th, 21st, 28th), all designed to promote interest in and knowledge of foreign affairs.

Tickets for all programs and luncheons can be reserved by calling Callie Kendall at 413/585-3756.
