Inherited Wisdom: A Correspondence Installation
Inherited Wisdom
Facilitated by graduate students Joetta Maue and Megan Randlett.
The red tent structure that will be present in this installation is based upon a tradition from biblical times in which women were separated from men during their menstruation cycle and childbirth. This tent separated the women from the men and created a place for the women to identify with one another. As a result, the women began to share their wisdom of love, life, motherhood, and midwifery. The walls of out tent, Inherited Wisdom, will be built with the correspondence that we have collected from other women.
Directions & Parking
The Student Union Building is in the central area of the UMass campus. The Art Gallery is on the first floor of the Student Union, located on the South Side the Building, across from Earth Foods and the Cape Cod Lounge. Parking is available in the adjacent Campus Center Parking Garage.
