Great Decisions Program: "Dealing with Iran"

The election of Iran’s conservative president raises a concern that hardliners will shape policies against American interests. How can the U.S. constrain Iran’s influence in Iraq and other countries in the region? How will the U.S. and the international community avert the crisis over Iran’s nuclear ambitions?

The speaker, Professor Sohail Hashmi of Mt. Holyoke College, is an author and editor of numerous publications on Islam and the Middle East, including his September 2001 article, “The Terrorists’ Zealotry is Political, Not Religious.”

Four other programs follow on Fridays in March and April, all designed to promote interest in and knowledge of foreign affairs.
