Laura Letinsky: Selected Photographs
Laura Letinsky's photographs, which focus mainly on the genre of 'Still Life', have their roots firmly emedded not in the history of photography, but rather in the romanticism of traditional still life painting.
The subjects for her photographs are often simple and commonplace. In them, she demonstrates how the familiar can be rendeed special and significant by the treatment that it's given. Just as trivial words can provide the source for a beautiful song, so trivial objects can be arranged to form a beautiful and compelling image.
Directions & Parking
Herter Art Gallery is located at the north end of Herter Hall west of the Fine Arts Center. Public parking is available at all times behind the Robsham Vistors Center and at meters along Haigis Mall. Nights and weekends parking is also available in Lot #71 west of the Whitmore Administration Building.
