Film: BUS 174
The Student Association for the Multicultural Brazilian Alliance (SAMBA) invites you to a free showing if BUS 174. The powerful and shocking documentary film contains real footage taken the from hostage situation witnessed by the entire country of Brazil. "The film tells 2 parallel stories. Not only does it explain the dramatic events that unfolded as the police tried, and failed, to handle the hijack situation; but it also tells the amazing life story of the hijacker, revealing how a typical Rio de Janeiro street kid was transformed into a violent criminal because society systematically denied him any kind of social existence."
The film will be followed by a special presentation by the International Institute for Cooperation and Development, a grassroots organization that works to save street children in Brazil from a life of crime and poverty in the slums.
