The Fourth Annual Five College Student PoetryFest
Ten students, two from each of the five colleges, have been selected to read from their own work. The PoetryFest is free and open to the public.
This year’s event is being dedicated to the memory of Joseph Brodsky, commemorating the tenth anniversary of his death. Excerpts from one of his poems, entitled “Six Years Later,” will be read in the original Russian by Catherine Ciepiela, Professor of Russian at Amherst College, who will also read the poem in its entirety in the English translation by Richard Wilbur.
The students who will be reading their poems are:
Amherst: Sarang Gopalakrishnan and Kit Wallach
Hampshire: Molly Herrick and Theresa Jackson
Mount Holyoke: Sarah Giragosian and Laura Hilberg
Smith: Liz Afton and Julia Williams
UMass Amherst: Hannah Allaben and Cozi Orlen
