April Steele Workshop

The 'Developing A Secure Self' Approach Workshop

This two-day workshop includes lecture with clinical examples, videotaped and live demonstrations, and small group discussion. There are two practice segments of Imaginal Nurturing. Workshop segments include how to respond optimally to the client’s attachment style, problems that may arise and how to deal with them, and how this approach fits into an overall treatment plan. The 150-page handbook that is included with registration contains conceptual material, organizational tools, and examples of imagery scripts.

While "Developing a Secure Self" naturally complements EMDR trauma work, it is recognized that therapists not trained in EMDR will also be able to make good use of this approach. Although some segments of the workshop (e.g. how to incorporate Adjunctive Imaginal Nurturing into the EMDR Standard Protocol) are related specifically to EMDR, the material presented can be applied to non-EMDR work. The workshop is not restricted to Level Two EMDR-trained clinicians because this approach complements EMDR (or other) trauma work rather than building on the work of Level Two. This is not to suggest that this training is elementary and unsuitable for experienced therapists. However, please note that only participants with at least Level Two EMDR training are eligible for EMDRIA CEUs.

The material and information covered in this workshop is based on clinical observation and anecdotal accounts. This workshop is held in facilities that are wheelchair accessible. Please notify me if special accommodations are required.
