Theater Performance: True West
Premiered in San Francisco in 1980, True West is one of Sam Shepard’s funniest plays, as well as one of his most brutal. Austin is a stable, successful Hollywood screenwriter, Lee his menacing vagabond brother, and True West is the story of their attempt to trade lives. The brothers Lee and Austin will be played by two actors who switch off the roles each night. Directing the production will be Sheila Siragusa, recent gradate of the UMass Amherst MFA directing program. This production was made possible in part by the Amherst Arts Council.
