Based on the recently released manual, Global Road Safety Toolbox for Study Abroad this workshop is being offered on the UMass campus for the New England region to better prepare all who work and travel abroad.

The workshop is of particular value to faculty leading students overseas; resident directors; risk managers; and anyone interested in health, safety and security issues for students abroad.

The workshop will feature an overview of the newly

released manual Global Road Safety Toolbox for the Study Abroad Community. This manual is the result of a remarkable effort by ASIRT and recognized leaders in the education abroad field.

ASIRT Founder and President Rochelle Sobel and Executive Director Cathy Silberman will provide an introduction and overview of the manual. The workshop will include discussion of existing best practices and new strategies to incorporate road safety training into program and itinerary planning and student pre-departure, campus and on-site orientations. In addition, participants will receive materials excerpted from the manual including check-lists, role-playing scenarios and sample Road

Travel Reports (available through ASIRT on 160 countries).
