STEM Education Institute Tuesday Seminar
“Using Pen-Based Computers in Classroom Instruction”
Gino Sorcinelli
Accounting & Information Systems, Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts
Professor Gino Sorcinelli, Isenberg School of Management, will deliver a presentation about his use of Tablet PCs in one lecture section of his course, SOM 210 – Introduction to Business Information Systems.
His presentation will cover four specific areas:
1) Rationale for introducing the Tablet technology
2) Student reaction to date
3) Impact on student learning outcomes
4) Future plans
Woven through the presentation will be an overview of the ConferenceXP technology being developed by Microsoft Research (www.conferencexp.net). This software allows a faculty member to “broadcast” classroom content to student Tablet PCs in the classroom. There will be a demonstration of this technology, and plenty of Q&A is requested.
