Third Annual Symposium in Plant Biology

"Chemical Plants: Manipulating Plant Metabolism to Improve Health and Nutrition" is the subject of the Plant Biology Graduate Program's annual symposium.

Plants are a valuable source of important commercial compounds including flavors, colors, and pharmaceuticals but remarkably little is know about the biochemical pathways that produce most of these important compounds. In the third annual Plant Biology symposium, researchers will discuss the latest efforts to understand and manipulate production of plant secondary metabolites.

The symposium will feature a day-long series of talks as well as a poster session for attendees to present their work. This year's speakers are Dean DellaPenna from Michigan State; alumnus Harry Klee from the University of Florida; Susan Roberts from the Chemical Engineering Department; David Salt from Purdue; Yair Shachar-Hill from Michigan State; and Brenda Winkel from Virginia Tech.

Registration and talks will be in the Engineering Lab II Auditorium and poster sessions and lunch will be on the 10th floor of the Campus Center.
