Five College Community-Based Learning and Community Service Workshop
The Five Colleges will host a community-based learning and community service dorkshop.. Students who are new to the Pioneer Valley and seeking opportunities for civic engagement, as well as students who are experienced in both areas, are invited.
Three questions structure the event:
What should students know about themselves and what they bring to the organization and community in which they work/serve?
What should students know about the community organization?
What should students know about the community in which they are working/serving?
Two community activists will answer these three key questions. In addition, students will see re-enactments of previous students’ experiences in community service and community-based learning and will be exposed to examples of effective community engagement. Later, students will participate in small group discussions in which they respond to the questions and explore additional possibilities.
