$50,000 Technology Innovation Challenge

There is a new competition, Technology Innovation Challenge, for technology and entrepreneurship at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Current students and alumni who graduated before February 2004 will have the opportunity to compete for $50,000 in funding.

Over the academic year, teams will be formed to develop a business plan to commercialize a new technology. The Challenge will begin in the fall semester where teams will compete for $5,000 in the Technology Innovation Challenge Executive Summary and Elevator Pitch Competition. Each team will write a 2 to 3 page summary of their business and will only have 90 seconds to pitch their technology to a panel of judges. If you are interested in participating in the fall competition, please submit an application that will confirm

eligibility by October 17, 2005. For those who are unable to

participate in the fall semester competition, you will have the

opportunity to compete for $45,000 in the spring semester.

To help students and alumni compete in the Challenge, the Entreclub will have a series of workshops on various subjects that are important to writing a business plan, forming a firm, and commercializing an idea/concept. For more information about the workshops, please visit www.entreclub.org.

The Technology Innovation Challenge encourages student and recent alumni to take this opportunity to turn his/her idea into reality. The Challenge will be a great learning experience with the opportunity to receive $50,000 to fund your new technology.
