War, Words and Pictures: Poems Read by Vietnam Veterans
Compelling poetry that emerged out of war will take center stage at this event, read against the backdrop of the
insightful, sometimes searing photos taken on assignment during the Vietnam War by renown photojournalist Barr Ashcraft.
"War, Words and Pictures: Poems by Vietnam Veterans," at the UMass Student Union Art Gallery, will include Vietnam veterans Al Miller and George Williams reading their own work, and the poems of other veterans. Professor Chris Appy of the UMass
History Dept., the author of the award-winning compilation of oral histories "Patriots: The Vietnam War Remembered from All Sides," will emcee the event.
Refreshments served.
Co-sponsored by the UMass Arts Council, SGA, GSS, the UMASS History Dept. and the Veterans Education Project.
