5K Walk for Youth - Stress Free, Violence Free Society
The Art of Living Foundation plans to bring together the youth and the young at heart from diverse backgrounds for a 5K Walk to raise awareness for a “A Stress Free and Violence Free Society” in America. This walk is a nationally coordinated event featuring participants walking simultaneously in over 25 cities and university campuses across North America to show their support and solidarity towards this cause. In Amherst, this event is being organized by the UMass Art of Living Club.
Funds raised from this event will be used for disaster and trauma relief operations in the areas affected by hurricane Katrina. Funds raised will also support the innovative programs of the Art of Living Foundation that provide youth worldwide with practical tools and techniques for releasing stress and managing negative emotions. The result is the youth are empowered to rise above life’s challenges and live life to their highest human potential, while being responsible toward their communities.
The post-walk show will feature live bands, DJs, raffles and lots of free stuff.
Participating students can ask their professors for community service credit.
