Not a "Natural" Disaster: Race, Class & Katrina
A panel of New Orleans evacuees and UMass faculty will speak about race, class and Hurrican Katrina. Panel will feature Adam Wilson, a union organizer in Mid-City New Orleans who waited five days for evacuation after Katrina; Megan Finn, a founder of Community Labor United, the initiator of the People’s Hurricane Fund and an activist for racial justice in the New Orleans public schools; and William Strickland, Associate Professor of African American Studies at the University of Massachusetts.
