Reflections: Cars and Parts
The exhibit "Reflections: Cars and Parts" by Erving artist Bryant J. Stewart features 30 of Stewart's art pieces, which have been exhibited in galleries throughout the country.
An opening reception will be held on September 8th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
He will have a second show at ISEL from October 27th - December 17th with a different set of pieces.
Born in Montreal, Bryant Stewart received his B.F.A. in painting and printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and studied drawing, painting, and printmaking at Oxford University.
Stewart creates representations of classic cars and trucks, mostly from the 1930’s and 1940’s. In describing his technique, he says he “makes a transparent glaze using a combination of turpentine, linseed oil, and Damar varnish” (made from resin tapped from the Damar fir tree) and applies it to “marine grade plywood, which has a beautiful surface that lends itself to glazing.”
