International Student Orientation

All international students who are enrolling at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for the first time must attend the International Programs Office’s Orientation Program. This fall approximately 500 international students, both undergraduate and graduate level, will join the campus community.

The general purpose of this orientation program is to promote international education and cultural exchange in order to develop mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is also proud to sponsor over 200 Visiting Scholars and their families from approximately 40 different countries. These individuals have greatly enriched the campus and community life of Amherst and its surrounding towns. Scholars arrive year round and stay in the U.S. from three weeks to three years.
