Graciela Monteagudo’s new multimedia presentation Argentina Autonomista Project centers on Argentinean
women in the road blockades, recovered factories, self managed enterprises, and their organizing against prostitution.
This presentation is based on Ms. Monteagudo’s ongoing interviews with unemployed women who were part of the road blockade movement, work in self-managed enterprises, organize against prostitution and are in jail for their political activities. Through the use of puppets, songs, video clips and other media, this presentation will frame these women’s lives in a comprehensive socio-historic background of Argentina’s social movements, especially during the mid-nineties, when IMF recipes rendered 26% of the population unemployed.
