Film: Environmental Action on the Nashua River with Marion Stoddart

This 30 minute award-winning film from 2010 chronicles the story behind the clean up of the Nasha River in New Hampshire and central Massachusetts starting in the early 1960s led by Marion Stoddart and her vision for making a difference.

Marion Stoddart lived next to one of the nation’s most polluted rivers—and unexpectedly transformed herself from a housewife and mother to an environmental activist and citizen hero honored by the United Nations. The Work of 1000 is the documentary film chronicling her life, achievements, setbacks, and unwavering belief that one person can make a difference in the world. The film’s narrative structure involves elements of civic engagement, environmental history, ecological and economical sustainability, and women’s history.
