Radical Jewish Project: Joel Saxe

Radical Jewish Culture Conversaton Series

at UMass Amherst

We are thrilled to present the Radical Jewish Culture Conversation Series at UMass Amherst, which seeks to explore the connections between radical and Jewish culture through artistic presentations and discussion. The series features three Jewish artists whose work ranges from themes of the genocide in the former Yugoslavia, to Israeli-Palestinian relations, to understanding the history of secular socialist Jewry in the United States. The Radical Jewish Culture Conversation Series is an opportunity to celebrate Jewish contributions to progressive social and political causes.

Joel Saxe presents a multimedia installation and dialogue called, Remembering the Flamingo Park Meeting. Remembering the Flamingo Park Meeting is a traveling installation exploring 20th-century Jewish radicalism and engaging intergenerational dialogue around radical American history and it's relevance to conditions of widening inequality and injustice today.
