Improving the Safety and Efficiency of Medical Processes

Three researchers from UMass Amherst (Lori Clarke, Dept. of Computer Science; Lee Osterweil, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and Beth Henneman, Nursing) join Phil Henneman, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Baystate Medical Center to present their work: developing new healthcare processes to combat the problems of medical errors, dramatic increases in healthcare costs and a worsening nursing shortage.

This is the inaugural event of a new lecture series: "Fourth Thursday: Information Technology Research on the Five-College Campuses." The series is intended to foster new intellectual and interdisciplinary connections and opportunities for IT research for faculty, staff, and students across the Five-College campuses.

Feel free to bring your own lunch. Light refreshments will be served.
