Christo and Jeanne-Claude from the Roof: The Gates Project in Central Park

Join the Visual Arts Interest Group of the Friends of the Fine Arts Center in a unique experience as we meet on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art to view the spectacular work of artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. This two-week project, 26 years in the making, is the husband and wife's first temporary outdoor artwork in New York, their home of forty years. It consists of 7,500 saffron-colored gates (each 16 feet in height and hung with saffron panels placed at 12 foot intervals over 23 miles of pedestrian walkways that lace the park.) The installation will remain on view for only 16 days beginning February 12. Space on this trip is limited.
