Lecture: Policies for Reconciling Parenthood and Employment: Lessons from Abroad

Janet C. Gornick from Baruch College of the City University of New York will present the second 2005 Tay Gavin Erickson Lecture.

Dr. Gornick is Associate Professor of Political Science at Baruch College, and at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She is also Associate Director of the Luxembourg Income Study, an international research institute. Gornick’s research focuses on social welfare policy and the effects of family policies on child and family outcomes in different countries. She is the co-author of Families That Work: Policies for Reconciling Parenthood and Employment, a comparative study of family leave policy, the regulation of working time, and publicly-funded child care in 12 industrialized countries.
