I AM A MAN: Black Masculinity in America

I AM A MAN is a 60-minute award-winning documentary video that captures the thoughts and feelings of African-American men and women from over fifteen cities across America. It links men and women from various socio-economic backgrounds with some of Black America's most progressive academics, social

critics and authors. Hurt challenges audiences to interrogate the damaging effects of racism and sexism in American culture.

Byron Hurt is the creator and producer of I AM A MAN: Black Masculinity in America. He is also the co-founder and associate director of MVP-Marine Corps, the first worldwide gender violence prevention program in the history of the United States Marine Corps.
