Sunday Night Movies: Team America and Do the Right Thing

The Student Activities Center presents the Sunday Night Movies -- Team America: World Police & Do the Right Thing.

Team America: World Police. The creators of South Park take aim at the genre of blockbuster action films in this spoof with a cast of marionettes. Team America is an international police force whose job to maintain global stability is threatened when they find that a dictator is providing weapons to terrorists. They recruit a Broadway star to infiltrate the enemy and he decides that his acting skills are best put to the test for this higher cause rather than his career in this scathing comedy. Animated Feature Voices by: Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Elle Russ: Paramount Pictures; Directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone; Rated R; 107 minutes; 2004.

Do the Right Thing: Producer/writer/director/star Spike Lee combines humor, drama, and music in a technique used in his previous films to again expose the absurdity of racism. Lee moves the cast of characters through a minefield of sensations over the course of the hottest day of the year, on one block in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. This blood-boiling, 24-hour period will change the lives of its residents forever.
