Resurrecting Leonardo: Reconnecting Art and Science for Education
A symposium examining the nature of the visualization process, and the various ways in which it has been used by artists and scientists to convey to a broad audience the wonderment of discovery.

Prof. Anker is also a visual artist and theorist working with genetic imagery.
Felice Frankel
Scientific Researcher, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
she is also a Science Photographer, and author of “Envisioning Science.”
Janice D. Gobert
Member of the Concord Consortium, Concord, MA
she is Research Director of "Modeling Across the Curriculum" & “Making Thinking Visible."
Sherwin B. Nuland
Professor, Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Nuland is a surgeon and award-winning author of "How We Die"
The symposium was made possible through a collaboration between the Vice-Provost for Research, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathmatics, the Department of Art, and the VISUAL Program of the NSF-supported Materials Research Science and Engineering Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
The event is being held in conjunction with the 30th Annual Nikon International Photomicrography Competition, a juried exhibition.
Concluding remarks will be offered by Mr. Lee Shuett, executive vice president, Nikon Instruments.
Admission to the symposium and exhibition is free and open to the public.
