Application Deadlines
Undergraduates
If you are seeking priority consideration for financial aid at UMass Amherst, Financial Aid services must receive your completed FAFSA by March 1. To ensure that your information arrives by then, submit your online FAFSA or mail your paper form no later than February 14.
Financial Aid Services accepts the FAFSA form until the last day of classes, May 15th. However, resources are limited and we give priority consideration for all forms of scholarships, grants, loans, and employment to on-time applicants. If your application is late, Financial Aid Services will only consider you for Federal Pell Grants, Federal Direct Loans, and certain state scholarships.
If you receive financial aid you will also need to meet ongoing deadlines for completing and returning the University Financial Aid Award Letter, promissory notes, and verification forms.
Graduate Students
The financial aid application period for graduate students is ongoing.
If you are interested in Federal Work-Study consideration, you should file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 and you should contact Graduate Student Financial Aid Services at 413-577-0555 to get on the waiting list.
If you are only seeking a loan, you have until May 1, 2008 to file your FAFSA.
