McCall Farms has recalled 15,618 cases
of Glory Foods brand Kale in 27-ounce cans and 9, 115 cases of Glory
Foods brand Turnip Greens in 27-ounce cans because the product has
the potential to be contaminated with foodborne pathogens such as
Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella, etc. The potential problem was
discovered by the company; there have been no reported illnesses
caused by this product.
The Glory Foods Turnip Greens is packed
in 27-ounce metal cans, with the code "GK25/TGLC." The
Glory Foods Kale is packaged in 27-ounce metal cans with the codes
"GK25/KGLC" and "GK22/CGLC." Both products were
distributed through retail stores throughout United States, primarily
in the Eastern United States.
McCall Farms' quality control department
discovered post-processing contamination in these two products and
code lots; the source of the problem subsequently has been identified
and corrected. No other McCall Farms/Glory Foods products are affected
by this recall. Foodborne pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus
and Salmonella can cause nausea, vomiting, cramps and diarrhea.
People experiencing these problems may wish to seek medical attention.
Consumers also are warned not to use the product even if it does
not look or smell spoiled. Consumers who have purchased either of
these products should return them to the place of purchase for a
