Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom

Special Mini-Grants for Schools and Teachers Working Together with Local Massachusetts Agricultural Commissions

  • Eight Special Mini-Grants in the amount of $150 will be awarded to school or teachers working in conjunction with their local Agricultural Commission.
  • Application are due April 1, 2008
  • Grants will be awarded for projects that strengthen the connections between local classrooms and Massachusetts agriculture. Local Agricultural Commissions members will serve as ambassadors to provide these links. These Special Mini-grant Awards will be awarded based on:
    • Agricultural Education merit of the project
    • Number of students reached
    • Matching funds or time given by local Agricultural Commission members
    • The lasting value of the project or the purchased materials.
  • Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom mini-grants do not support: salaries, purchasing a computer or computer equipment, school beautification projects or other projects that are not directly linked to developing an understanding of Massachusetts agriculture.
  • To Apply for this Special Mini-Grant: Teacher or school should send five copies of the application to Massachusetts Agriculture in Classroom, P. O. 345 Seekonk, MA 02771 to arrive on or before April 1, 2008.
  • The grant proposal should include an abstract, budget and a one-to-two page narrative of the project and how it will be carried out: including a time line, the number of students that will be reached; age of students and the supporting contributions and connections with the local agricultural commission.
