The Student Philanthropy Committee (SPC) helps educate students about the importance of private philanthropy in enriching their UMass Amherst experience.  The Committee works to get students excited about giving and  raises money for projects and scholarships benefitting students on campus.

Members of the Student Philanthropy Committee have a great opportunity to affect both the university’s future and their own by building awareness about the importance of private support and its impact on their education.  The SPC accomplishes this mission by:

  • Using social media, events, and activities to establish direct connections with individual students and to spread the message of philanthropy.
  • Collaborating with established campus organizations that are working to promote philanthropy.
  • Planning and hosting events and initiatives, including the Senior Campaign, I Love UMass Day, and Gratitude Week, to highlight and educate the student body on the importance of philanthropy.
  • Working on the Senior Campaign to help each senior class leave a lasting legacy at UMass.
  • Encouraging students to show appreciation for their school by making small gifts to the university while they are still on campus.
