Our undergraduate applications are increasing each year.  Our academic profile and the diversity of each new class also continue to rise.  We have the most academically competitive students in our history.  This trajectory of excellence, however, is threatened by the realities of the current economic climate; our ability to provide financial help to talented and in-need students is at risk.

Our goal is to garner private funding so that all students who wish to complete their education can, that we attract and retain talented students who will advance our research enterprise, and that those who seek additional enrichment can get it here.

Through the UMass Rising campaign, we will:

• Ensure continued access for the more than 65% of our in-state students who receive some type of need-based aid;
• Offer additional merit-based scholarships to help attract the best and brightest students to our campus;  
• Endow more graduate fellowships that allow those seeking advanced degrees and pursuing groundbreaking research to come here;
• Provide stipends and support for students to take low-paying or unpaid internships or to travel abroad and experience another culture.
