Packing the capsule
Satisfyingly, the box built for UMass Time Capsule 2000 turned out in the end like the Cratchit family’s Christmas dinner. There was just enough – in this case, just enough room for all the things people sent in to put into it.
Some say it’s silly to think that many people in the year 2100 will be interested in our T-shirts, mugs, and flyers. They’re probably right. But some, we’ll bet, are going to get a big kick out of sifting though this carefully packed boxful of cool old stuff, when it’s opened a hundred years from now.
