Campaign Update
Campaign UMass has passed the $100 million
mark, its treasurer, GORDON OAKES JR. '63, announced this spring.
"When we announced this campaign in
1996, we thought it would take five years to reach $125 million,"
Oakes said. "Expectations are now that the campaign's goal will be
reached by the end of December, a year ahead of schedule."
Here is how the totals to date break down:
- $57.9 million for school and college initiatives
- $18.3 million for facilities and equipment
- $12.4 million for faculty and staff support
- $8.5 million for students financial aid.
The remaining contributions include more than $700,000 for campus libraries
and $2.3 million in unrestricted gifts.
Among the campus's ten schools and colleges, engineering has received
the most, with contributions exceeding $18.7 million. Donors have contributed
$15.8 million to the Isenberg School and $12.1 million to the College
of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Some $6 million has been donated
to athletics.
