Umies go into Time Capsule

About 275 people and a couple of mastiffs named Midas and Brooklyn lined up outside Old Chapel May 1st to have their pictures snapped for an album to be included in the UMass 2000 Time Capsule. The background was an enjoyable mix of pomp and party —the UMass Wind Ensemble set the stage for brief remarks from dignitaries, and the loudspeakers of radio station WHMP took over from there.
As celebrants collected souvenir T-shirts and chowed down on ice cream and chips, they were urged to make any suggestions they'd like for inclusion in the capsule. The archivally correct box will be installed in the chapel crypt during Homecoming Festival 2000, with instructions that it be opened in November 2100.

All cards received by October will be included in the Time Capsule. (Those suggesting other objects should be submitted as soon as possible.)
