Library Fence

Photos by Teresa A.B. Gauthier

A handsome, zig-zagging, black metal barrier has replaced that rusted, chain-link eyesore that once encircled the W.E.B. Du Bois Library. The new benches placed along the fence are a welcome part of the improvements, which were funded by President William Bulger’s office, the Friends of the Library, and the Campus Beautification Committee.

The main entrances to the campus have also been dressed up this fall with new signs featuring the UMass logo and simplified directions to the visitors center, campus center, and parking garage. The new gateways were supported by a $140,000 appropriation from the president’s office.
