Mind/Body Medicine

UHS biofeedback session

"I would rather know the person who has the disease than know the disease the person has." –Hippocrates

Mind/body medicine focuses on the interactions among the brain, mind, body and behavior, and the powerful ways in which emotional, mental, social, spiritual and behavioral factors can affect health.

The Mind/Body Medicine Clinic

The Mind/Body Clinic at University Health Services cares for people with concerns including anxiety/panic attacks, gastrointestinal symptoms, cardiovascular symptoms, headaches, chronic pain, sleep distrubances, dysfunctional habits and ADHD/ADD.

Following referral by a UHS primary care provider, patients are evaluated by clinic staff. Treatment can include computerized biofeedback, clinical hypnosis, autogenics training and other forms of relaxation therapy.

UHS’ Mind/Body Medicine Clinic is staffed by a licensed clinical psychologist certified in biofeedback/behavioral medicine and a post-doctoral fellow in psychology.

Services are provided in UHS’ Specialty Clinic, on the health center’s ground floor; call (413) 577-6511.
