General Medical Care

UHS is not a hospital, and does not have an emergency department. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911 for ambulance transportation to a hospital.
UHS offers:
Routine medical care: Physicals, routine gynecologic care and/or contraceptive care, well-baby checkups, medical monitoring of chronic conditions and follow-up for minor illnesses or injuries. Schedule a visit by calling the appointment line, (413) 577-5101.
Care for acute minor illness: Examples include colds, sore throats, urinary tract infections or sexually transmitted illnesses. Appointments are usually available within 24 hours by calling the appointment line, (413) 577-5101, or the Triage Advice Nurse, (413) 577-5229.
Walk-in care: For concerns that can’t wait for an appointment, use our walk-in care. Examples include injuries, possible fractures, asthma attacks, or abdominal pain. Call the Triage Advice Nurse, (413) 577-5229, before coming in. An open appointment may offer a shorter wait.
