About the UMass Amherst Medical Reserve Corps

In 2005 University Health Services, UMass Amherst's campus health center, partnered with the university’s School of Nursing to create the UMass Amherst Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).
The 300-member-strong UMass MRC is one of more than 700 registered units nationwide. What's an MRC? Learn more with these FAQs.
The fledgling unit got a major boost when the School of Nursing's faculty senate voted unanimously to incorporate MRC into its undergraduate and second bachelor’s degree course curriculums This created the first, and perhaps only, curriculum-incorporated MRC in the country.
The UMass Amherst MRC provides educational, research and leadership opportunities for student and faculty volunteers in the fields of public health and emergency preparedness.
