Athlete
In the game, in the classroom and in life, good health is important to success. UHS is on your side, caring for your injuries and illnesses, and helping you protect your wellbeing now and in the future.
Designed for intercollegiate athletes, the Athletic Health Enhancement Program (AHEP) offers confidential consultations, counseling and referrals. AHEP staff teach "Your Winning Season," a life skills course required for all first-year student athletes; are part of Athletics’ mandatory alcohol and drug testing program, and lead the Smart Choices program, aimed at combating alcohol abuse among student athletes.
If you’re concerned about your alcohol or other drug use, check out BASICS. Located in UHS’ Center for Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Prevention, BASICS is a two-session program that helps you assess your use and make changes.
No matter what, how or where you play, you can benefit from UHS’ sports medicine practice. Our specialists focus on injury treatment and prevention, exercise and athletic performance enhancement.
If an injury happens, physical therapy may be part of your treatment plan; our on-site PT department has the equipment and expertise you need.
The food you choose fuels your performance – make the most of it with free sports nutrition consultations. Struggling with eating? Our Eating Disorders Clinic treats the physical, emotional and nutritional issues you’re facing.
And remember – Mental Health Services’ individual, group, couples and family counseling services are an important resource for those times when things feel overwhelming.
